Checkpoint. Cloudy and gray, cool - high 30's to low 40's, fairly brisk NNE wind. Started at the East end off Meridian Road outside of Rockford, rode through Winnebago out to about 4 miles West of Pecatonica. I had to cut it short by about a mile due to a bridge out. Last 3 miles of the trail gradually became worse as it went along to the point where it was grass and dirt. Other than that part, the trail was in pretty good shape, mostly double track gravel. This trail is possibly more boring than the Great Western Trail and I'm not sure it's worth it to drive all the way up to Rockford to ride. Maybe later in the century when they actually finish this trail and it connects downtown Rockford to Freeport and the Jane Adams Trail it will be a destination ride. Don't hold your breath, it's been there since the 1970's and they've only completed around 13 miles of real Limestone trail. A good portion of the trail is actually just a foot path or gravel RR bed.
