Setting off on bikes from Lymington we headed across the river and through Walhampton and through lanes to reach the coast at the end of Tanners Lane to give a view of The Needles and Hurst Castle, otherwise known as Alec’s Island, in the distance across the saltings.
We continued on towards Buckler’s Hard passing St Leonard’s Grange and the remains of its great Barn. We turn into Buckler’s Hard Boatyard and followed the track into Beaulieu and elevenses at The Bakehouse Tea Room an establishment that appears to attract cyclists.
Leaving Beaulieu we headed towards East Bodre and across Beaulieu Heath where Lawrie picked a puncture thus proving that Marathon Plus tyres are not completely puncture proof. Puncture fixed we continued on to Brockenhurst where new inner tubes were purchased before retiring to the Snakecatcher PH for lunch.
