The weather is warm, but bearable. Peggy and I headed to Keene. I made it to the summit of the climb in good average time. We cruised the downhill and regrouped at the risers. Peggy turned around a bit after the second riser, and I continued to the base. I was trying to calculate the time that she was ahead. My calculation was 25 minutes. After reaching the base, I turned around and headed back, no stopping. I kept the tempo steady as it was starting to heat up. No digs. The landmarks went fast. After making it to the second dip, I was getting better in the morale. Given that Peggy was waiting for me, that gave me motivation. But at the same time, I had to stay within my limits. The heat will only permit so much intensity. As I was cresting the summit, the wind turned 180. Fortunately, that was pretty much the end of the ride. From there it was fun and games. Concentration was good. Gear worked great. Balance and form was good. Ailments, some hand numbness that had to be shaken off to mitigate. Nutrition was good. No hunger signs. I had most my Gatorade and some water. Other notes, I saw 3 cyclists on their way back as we were making our way down the mountain. The Loop Monument deck is starting to take shape.
