Rayco wanted to preview an upcoming MCBC route. It was a pretty good turnout for what was going to be an epic day. It was overcast and chilly to start and didn't really warm up enough to shed layers until Deer Park. At the top of West Point Inn, we decided to skip the rest of the route and just head down to The Junction for pizza. I was slightly bummed because I was looking forward to checking out the infamous (Upper) Eldridge Grade that everyone always talks about because it's so rocky. It was a split between gravel bikes and MTB and it's not supposed to be great on a gravel bike so probably wise to just get pizza. The Junction has been hyped for a while and I'm glad to finally go. The outdoor seating area is pretty nice and the weather was great for it. I'm sure the pizzas were great except for me, the dough was WAY too strong a sourdough (which I don't really like very much). I like my bread salty, and even sweet, but not sour. The sourdough really overpowered the flavors of the toppings. A lot of the trails seemed to have been graded and the ruts and bumps filled with gravel and smoothed. Deer Park and Old Springs seem to have a good amount of work done to them. The bridge crossing was super sketchy again, especially the north end. Fortunately no one was in front of me stopping at the towers and I was able to ride through them safely. In fact, even though the gusts at the towers is pretty bad, it still felt safer than riding across the bridge. A few flats that sealed and a couple of crashes that weren't too bad luckily so overall a good day.
