Bob wanted to work on his climbing today, which I was totally down for. It was supposed to be hot in the valley and it was unclear what it would be like at the coast. If it was sunny, it would be warm but if it was really windy or the marine layer/fog/clouds hadn't burned off yet, well then it would be cold.
It was the latter.
In fact it was chilly from W. OLH all the way to Pescadero with some warm sunny patches. After lunch, it was freezing until the first climb on Stage. Even after that it was sort of chilly until Tunitas.
Bob pushed pretty hard up OLH. I did some photo intervals, getting ahead to grab some shots and then catching up and going by to get some more so I managed to put in some good efforts too.
Going up Haskins, near the top, we were catching some riders. I egged Bob on to try and catch them and pass them before the top. At first he didn't want to but when we got closer he picked up the pace. I ended up pacing and encouraging him and we managed to pass the cyclists.
On Tunitas, towards the end of the steep section, there was another cyclist that we caught. Once I again, I egged him on saying he could get his second stage victory at the Tour. Again he balked at first but it was clear we could pass this guy, even without picking up the pace, but Bob picked it up anyway.
Back in the valley it was pretty hot and for some reason the faucet at Robert's in Woodside isn't working. GASP! We had to go in and buy water. :)
