Resupply at Safeway in Butte, caught a bit of the 4th of July parade, I had a bike pump malfunction at the start of the first climb but was saved by a friendly neighbor. Beautiful descent through ranchland into our first small storm around the I-15 underpass, then the long climb up to the infamous Fleecer Ridge. Fleecer Ridge itself is a very silly thing to do on a bike, but it’s nowhere near as burly as people make it sound (or perhaps it is we who are burly). The views up top were incredible, and we had a joyous descent down to some dispersed camping which was hopping with a 4th of July party crowd. The kids in the next campsite over somehow accidentally lit several boxes of fireworks simultaneously at 1am (they were too close to the campfire?)- we thought we were going to die, and it was definitely the most dangerous thing that has happened on this trip so far.
