Today was my last big training ride till next week's T-Town ride. I decided to do the triple, WS + Alpine Forest + Tour de Teh (SS,R) route. When I was about to get out, I was having some mild GI soreness. I don't think it was from breakfast. I had eggs with corn tortillas with a bit of cream cheese. I was confident enough that it will subside. It did. The weather was on the cool side, so I had to decide what to wear. I wore my arm warmers and a thick base layer. I ended up removing my arm warmers when I reached the end of OTR. I also brought 3 bottles. I made it to the end of OTR in good time. After removing my arm warmers, I stuffed them in my jersey pockets and headed to WS. I was doing no more than moderate tempo. I was keeping an I on the GI signs. At that point, it was manageable. I made it to WS and then headed back without stopping. About half way, I was getting some nature break signs. I was running through the places in my mind where I could make a pit-stop. I was even considering going into the bushes on Highline. I decided that I should try and hold it. I made my way back and then headed up the Banducci Wall. I think there was some traffic mitigation, I was able to keep it out of the red-zone. The Alpine Forest went well. I climbed Arosa mostly out of the saddle and doing good tempo. I was near max over the top. After making it around the Alpine Forest, I headed up to the summit of Banducci. I also scoped out the rest stop for the T-Town ride at the corner of Banducci and Arosa. It's mostly gravel and a bit of sand. When I reached the summit, I pulled over to take a breather. The GoPro battery was holding at 100% charge. Shortly after, I headed down the mountain while practicing my tuck. When I got to the valley floor, I was looking for places where I could take a nature break. About half way to SS, I found a porta-potty and conducted my business there. I felt much better after that. Will have to keep that in mind for the T-Town ride. Bio when needed, don't hold it in. After making it around the backside of SS, I headed down and into town. I crossed the tunnel bridge in about 2:07 hours. I zipped through town and got back on the farmland roads. The wind was mild. Slightly turbulent. I don't think I ever had a perfect tailwind. I made it to Boss Hogs in about 2:37 hours. So, I gave up about 5 to 7 minutes on the return from SS. I reached the last climb of the day. I proceeded with a bit of caution. I let the climbing legs to re-establish them selves and then kept a moderate tempo to the summit. I don't think I stopped when I reached the summit. Route 202 was mostly traffic mitigation. After reaching OTR, it was mostly fun and games. Concentration was good. I was having to keep an eye on the GI, so the first hour was on the slightly stressful side. Otherwise, I was in the zone. Balance and form was good. Gear worked perfect. Nutrition was spot on. No hunger signs. I drank about one and a half Gatorade bottles and some water. I had plenty of provisions. Other notes, I saw a bunch of cyclists today. At least 10.
