Another day, another mid-afternoon Small Craft Advisory. And couldn't get on the road soon enough, thus paid the price of seemingly constant broadside or headwinds, Beaufort Number 5-6, variably. So a Palmier Breezier Ride even than Tuesday. Almost scary to ride into gusts for about 16-17 miles. Buffeted out of the bike lane if not constantly working. Necessitated ~100% aero, especially vs. the easterlies on the return trip, w/ belly nearly lying on the top tube to reduce profile & wind resistance. Noticed that when I had was on parts of Rt. 58 w/ dense shore vegetation close to both sides of the road, to help break the direct wind force, I could hit 15-16mph. But out in the open through towns or where there are large hotels or shopping centers, all I could muster was 12-13mph. And if the road took a slight bend to the west-southwest, the Bernoulli effect in those groves almost stood me up. All this w/ some asthma flare-ups from the mustiness in an RV that got Corona-forced storage for 22+ months, that required another errand to CVS to get some OTC Mucinex-DM so I can cough less & sleep better. Probably the penultimate ride of vacation, unless rain takes the finale away on Saturday. Was perhaps going to try & safely cross that skinny steep bridge (twice) w/o SAG support, not sure yet. RV park getting ready for Hallowscream, sort-of going all out on the 2 weekend program. Might just circle the park many times (if it weren't for the speed-bumps).
