Tried to make up for the 7th day of M2C ride on Saturday from Wallace to North Topsail Beach that Danny & I sat out of, b/c of T/L-storm risk & Small Craft Advisories posted @ the coast as a result of the tropical depression drifting north just off-shore. We figured it would catch us near the end again, & we already had 2 of 6 days ending w/ a drenching, plus a good risk of lightning which is even less enjoyable. Just didn't feel like risking it, & not sure my feet, rear & hands after 425 miles in 6 days, could attack the final 64 miles @ a steady 15-17 mph with just 5-10 minutes @ the 3 rest stops so that we could get in between 12 & 1pm, before the risk really ramped up. Most everyone else seemed game for the coastal finale, but oh well, we had made the decision to err on the side of caution, & so we sat around @ the extended-stay hotel room waiting for Holly to get there late that evening to fetch us & bring us to the Big Blue. And I watched THREE whole college football games in 1 day, which it has probably been 3 or 4 decades since I have done. It was a shame that all but 1 team rooted for LOST, including my Nittany Lions b/c of the Transfer Portal taking our 2 better back-up QB's in the off season. Enough spilt milk. Wonderful ride today, a bit on the chilly side w/ overcast skies & a slight breeze, fairly flat & brisk-pace was maintainable, traffic not too bad, good bike lane throughout the ride. Tomorrow, I may ride w/ our immediate neighbor @ the RV park, who is also a 1978 Penn State alumnus who does a lot of road cycling now that he is retired, & recently completed a 1-day 200 mile ride in Utah. See if I can surpass 1000 miles for the abysmal year tomorrow. Doubtful able to get another 1020 in over the next 2 & 1/2 colder months. I hate failures.
