Celebrating and honoring veteran (aka old) bikers on a lovely late fall NC day. Enjoyed what is more than likely the last layers-free ride in 2021. Temps in the low 70s and a breeze from the south. Didn’t feel the greatest on some of the climbs but was obviously doing ok based on the average speed (which was a bit of a surprise). Wind was pretty stiff and directly in my face on the Sausage Road so that wasn’t great (also a little climb there plus narrow plus traffic so ugh) but it didn’t last long. Neuse River Trail was lovely and quite enjoyable. Not many people out so little pedestrian dodging required. After mostly MTB of late nice to be on the pavement bike but also some adjustment required — continuous power output instead of intervals
