Part of what makes getting out of the house so hard is the fact that no matter where I go, I have to do some steep climbing to get home after.
And that's one of the reasons I'm always conflicted about what to do when going out to get food. The mall near my house is super close and for sure should be done on the bike but I dread the return.
I decided to take out the Redux which has been sitting around unused for a long time. I originally got it as a bike to do errands and this ride fits the bill. It's smoother and faster than I remember it. And even without good climbing gears, it wasn't so bad. I think it would make a good climbing intervals bike.
One problem, the MTB flat pedals. They just don't work for my foot positioning and knees. The lack of float always makes me feel like my feet are locked in an awkward position most of the time and I struggle to find the right position.
And on just this short ride, I managed to tweak my knee a little.

Best format for turn-by-turn directions on modern Garmin Edge Devices
Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.
Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
