Wow! great day for a ride. In the low 50's mild winds from the North West. Perfect for Keene n Back. I was undecided what to wear. I ended up removing my leg warmers in place of knee warmers. Short gloves, too. The legs felt good from the start. I made it to the summit in good time. I cruised the downhill, putting in two digs on the risers. The legs and knees felt good. There was a train on the way down as I was descending, very neat to keep up with it for a few moments. About a mile from the base, there was a cyclist on his way back. I wasn't sure if I'd bridge. After reaching the base, I unzipped my jacket and jersey most of the way down and got on with business. It didn't take much time to get the climbing legs and lungs going. I had a few things to think about, the morale was good. I was ticking over the landmarks. The body felt good for the entire climb. It was that cool air and slight assistance from the tailwind. The tempo was high from a good chunk of the climb. No less than moderate tempo while sitting in the saddle. I was near maximum for the last mile or so. I was able to hold the high tempo over the top. No sprinting, but allowing the HR to climb to max. After making it over the summit, I cooled down a bit, letting the HR recover. From there, it was back home. Concentration was good. The morale felt good. Gear worked great. Balance and form was good. The legs felt in unison. Minimal favoring due to knee soreness. Ailments, minimal. The knees felt real good today. The hands weren't numb. Nutrition was good. No hunger signs. I had a cliff bar before the start of the ride. Other notes, just one other cyclist today. There were many tourists at the Loop Monument as I was descending.
