Great day for a ride. I took a nap after second breakfast. I was reluctant to get up, but of course I managed to do it. Weather is great. I think the wind made a reversal just before I got back. To the South West. Perfect for Keene. The legs felt good to start. I made it to the summit in good average time. I cruised the downhill. Soft pedaling most of the time. I put in two digs over the risers, nothing epic. The train was descending just as I was making my way down to the base of the climb. Probably got it on camera. After making it to the base, I checked my FordPass app. Unlock worked perfect. Shortly after, I headed back. When I reached the Chavez Center, I pulled over to remove my knee warmers. I kept my arm warmers on. I got back on the road and went about my business. The miles went fast, thanks to the tailwind. As I was nearing the summit, I was thinking about adding OTR summit to the ride. About the same time, I was feeling some hunger signs. I decided to stop at the summit and feed half a Clif Bar. I got back on the road and headed to OTR. While I was making there, I was thinking about going to the summit of Banducci as the legs felt good. So, that was the plan. The OTR climb went well. The legs were warmed up. The Banducci Wall had some traffic mitigation. Nevertheless, I made my way up it and staying in my limits. From there it was to the summit. Again, some traffic mitigation. All the while, I had to assess how much provisions I had left. When I was at the top of Keene, I calculated that I could make it past OTR and back. After making it to the summit, I pulled over and had the other half of the Clif Bar as I planned. I hydrated, took a few moments rest, swapped the GoPro battery and headed back after traffic went by. I had plenty in the tank to get me back. It was mostly fun and games. I was getting Bio signs, so I made a pit stop at a Porta-Potty on OTR. Definitely better than holding it will I got home. I just had to get over Mariposa from there. Concentration was good. Minimal lapses, I was doing my best to keep the morale going. Ailments were minimal. The right knee was a bit sore to start. It was hinting at soreness on the return from Keene. That was my limiting factor for how far to go. Suffice it to say, it held up. It's slightly sore now, so perhaps I should put it on ice. Balance and form was good. Nutrition was good. Feeding was the right thing to do. Gear worked perfect. Other notes, no other cyclists today. There were visitors at the Loop Monument.
