✈️🛻 Days 1-4: Portland, OR, to Norfolk, VA. Sightseeing to Yorktown. [Fake travel line, to show two points.]

04/28/22 Day 4: Yesterday, Kathy & I flew from PDX to Norfolk; scheduled to be picked up at the airport by the men who drove 3 days & nights to get there.

The trailer frame broke for the second time just as they reached the airport, as it wasn’t designed for the weight of all our gear & 6 hefty bikes. So today was spent replacing the frame with a heavier one, while we got to sightsee in Yorktown and I got to put my feet in the Atlantic Ocean!! It was a wonderful day, but we have reservations in Williamsburg tonight and the team will ride out from there tomorrow.
I have determined, however, to ride ocean to ocean, so far as it is within my ability. So I will ask Dave to drive me with my bike back to Gloucester Point in the morning so I can start from there and do both days in one.

    Best format for turn-by-turn directions on modern Garmin Edge Devices

  • TCX Course

    Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.

  • TCX History

    Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.

  • GPX Track (.gpx)

    Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
