I crossed over from Colorado to Wyoming today! All excited to see the Welcome sign, and it’s missing off its posts.😲🤔
Still could only whisper until this evening my voice has started crackling back. There is a City Hot Springs in Saratoga, the rest of the team went this afternoon plus late tonight. I went straight after arriving and none of us but Tom got to bed much before midnight.🤭
Today was head to the pavement. I miscalculated my mileage plus an extra ride from Camp to Hot Springs and back. It gave me a personal best day mileage wise, but the big deal was battery. I fought headwinds much of the day, riding in my lowest assist level, often uphill (1 pass & 1 big mtn) and often at only about 6 mph. I wanted to stop for lunch but didn’t dare because I kept re-calculating my remaining miles and daylight, so just one quick stop for bathroom & pick up vapor rub.😊. [Didn’t know that when I skipped breakfast😣]
I rode 6:30a.m. to 8:15p.m. to camp, 14 hours straight.
My ride was through moose and bear country, including the Arapaho Natl Forest, but I really hardly saw anything, my face was to the ground and watching my battery life, as I listened more to the life of Dietrich Bonhoeffer. I made it to camp with supposedly 9 miles’ worth of battery remaining, but it ran out on my way back to town. Thankfully Kathy got my message and brought the one I had thrown on the charger before leaving for the Hot Springs. It was pitch black going back, I have no headlamp without it, and we were camping by a lake in the boonies. The crazy part is that, of all days for me to be riding like this, in the back of my mind I always knew I could call for our pick up to bring me someone’s leftover battery if I got stuck. But since I wasn’t with the team this morning, I was not aware that Dee‘s bike battery had died and he and Dave were driving all the way back to Pueblo & back to pick up one he ordered days ago. They didn’t get back here until almost 10pm! Today’s ride was mostly uninhabited, just a few small towns. I know some of you were praying about my batteries today, that I would be enough to get me here. Conserving them was very long hard work, but I also fully see evidence of being protected this trip, this is one more.
For the second time, today after 2pm, one thunder shower after another was forecast for the time I was riding through each area. I got caught in one short rain & hail storm but it didn’t soak through, and other than that it poured on all sides of me but not where I was riding. In front, behind, and on both sides.
And to have mineral springs two days in a row was a dream! My swollen gland and earache were gone this morning, and obviously I had steady strength back to complete this day. Wow, so grateful.
And a beautiful sunset!

No potable water at this campground, so I didn’t even ask about Wi-Fi, lol!

Quite an amazing day. You were blessed. God is so good.
God has been so active in everyone of my days. This trip is one big miracle, even how He is spacing out the challenges for me.
