Hey there!
We rolled out at 5:45 in 43°. I rode with Cliff & Kathy until our 2nd break and said I was too cold to stop🥶. Then I hit a sign that said 4 miles to Hoosier Pass Summit (1,000’) and knew I’d better not stop on that either. I don’t think I could have done that a month ago. SO grateful I had much of my energy back today. Feeling better every day, but sounded like a 🐸 all day & lost my appetite. Then NO voice, I got ribbed about how quiet camp would be tonight😁.
It was fun seeing the gondola in Breckenridge and stopping in town there for a protein smoothie. I went on to two bike shops in Frisco & Dillon who couldn’t get me in or get needed parts. The one in Frisco called other dealers for me also, but the same. I made the decision to turn east 66 mi to Denver, and called the largest Bosch certified Trek dealer, a huge shop he recommended. When I called for an appt they are scheduling four weeks out!!! So I thought at least I’d call Denver shops to try to find and order the parts for later but hampered by my voice and gumption at that point. Decided to ride as long as she doesn’t quit, but the “stalls” are getting worse.
Before getting back on the road north, I met up with a new friend, the man I asked to take my picture at the summit. His name is Jim and he was heading out for a hike and I had to get to Frisco so the timing was perfect. Nice lunch and great conversation. (If you don’t mind talking with a 🐸!)
Then I finished my 90 mi to camp.
Tomorrow is another 90 mi day plus I plan to stop at 8am for a good soak at Hot Sulphur lithium hot springs. We’re riding right past it, and I think it might help me finish clearing this cold out of my system and feel really good in this cold air. (Til I get out!)😬
I zoomed in on my house today on Maps, and it sent a surge of homesickness through me.💕
Hope you have a good night! ♥️terri
