Begin ride from Butte Creek Elementary school in Marquam. First section is 9.6 miles to the Gallon House covered bridge. This is a flat section. The second part is the hill-climbing segment. From Gallon House, ride into Silverton and then through town on the Silver Falls highway. Just before the big climb toward Silver Falls, turn left onto Quall Rd. There is a 0.25 mile hill followed by a 0.2 mile downhill then a steep 0.4 mile climb. At the top of the hill, go left onto Madrona Heights Rd. Continue on this to Evans Valley Rd. There is a fairly steep downhill to the stop sign. Make a right onto Evans Valley, then a quick left onto Valley View Rd. This is a 1.3 mile section to highway 213 (mile 19.2). The third portion is the Abiqua loop. At Highway 213, turn right and go 0.2 miles to S. Abiqua Rd NE. Go right and continue 3.6 miles to the junction of Abiqua Rd. NE. Go left onto Abiqua Rd NE and ride 3.5 miles back to Highway 213. This is usually a fast 3.5 miles. Cross Highway 213 (mile 26.3) to stay on Abiqua Rd NE. This road runs into Meridian Rd. Veer right onto Meridian and go 1 mile to Mt. Angel-Scotts Mills Rd. Turn right. The next 4 miles into Scotts Mills usually has a crosswind and there are some short rollers after crossing 213 again. Finally, pull into Scotts Mills and enjoy a rest stop at the park (mile 32.3). There is a neat waterfall (Scotts Mills Falls). The final segment is generally flat and follows Nowlens Bridge Rd to Highway 213 (again!!). Cross the highway at the Marquam store and head onto Kropf Rd. Ride this for 3 miles to Gibson Rd. The original route turns left at Monte Cristo Rd. But, to avoid more climbing, continue to Gibson Rd. Garmin decided to re-route me onto Needy Rd, after riding 1 mile on Gibson Rd. Opted to follow Garmin and turn left onto Needy Rd. This comes out at Monte Cristo Rd, but after the bigger climbs on that road. Finally, roll into Monitor and finish via Meridian Rd, Marquam Rd and Wagon Rd.
