Having got off the Ferry at the Embankment we headed for Hyde Park. Arriving there, Margaret and Sheila opted to head on back to the canal while the rest of us decided to escort Francis part of the way to Chiswick via Kensington Gardens, Kensington High Street before parting from her at Hammersmith. Then the Loitering started. Having got onto the Thames path we decided to stop off at the Blue Anchor for a cheeky pint before continuing on. We hadn't continued very far when the Mawsons Arms at the Fullers brewery tempted us for another drink and something hot to eat- the steak and ale pie was magnificent. The rest of the route back followed our usual track via Brentford, Isleworth, Southall yawn, yawn. Jim then tempted us to stop off for a further drink at the Red Lion on Hillingdon Hill to which we readily agreed before finally calling it a day.
All in all a fantastic day out riding with Margaret who manages to faultlessly navigate using a scruffy bit of paper as opposed to an expensive GPS unit - hang your heads in shame lads. For me, this was the best ride of the year so far.
Disaster of the Day award goes to me.
