We unintentionally climbed the tallest mountain in the Bay Area the same day the Tour de France climbed the tallest pass in the Pyrenees, Col du Tourmalet.
The day started off warm and just got warmer for Bob, Sonny and I. I was sweating quite a bit going up Mt. Hamilton even though we were taking it easy.
Towards the top, the headwind started to pick up. After a nasty descent down the backside, the winds just seemed to get stronger and stronger until the were gale force on Mines as we approached the descent down to Livermore.
Maybe it was the bar I ate at the top of Mt. Hamilton but my stomach wasn't feeling great the whole way to lunch.
We had lunch at the newly remodeled, Junction Cafe. Service seemed a little faster and food a little better.
After lunch I still didn't feel great. My stomach felt okay on the bike but I had a metallic taste in my mouth and I was feeling a bit nauseous.
By the time we got to Pleasanton, my stomach was feeling better but because of all the headwind I was feeling tired and beat up.
We took it easy most of the rest of the way home, with a bit of fun near the end of Calaveras for Bob and I.
It was a surprisingly epic day.

Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.
Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
