I received the large Giro bib shorts yesterday. I tried them on as soon as I got back home. My first impressions were that the straps were a better fit. They didn't ride up the shorts like the medium sized ones did. There's a bit more room in the waste. The length could be a bit more, but is acceptable. So, I decided to go to Keene n Back today. The weather is on the hot side. Winds were from the North West and on the mild temperature side. The legs felt ok to start. They felt better after making it to the summit of the descent. I was able to relax on the downhill. Keeping an eye on traffic. I put in two digs on the riser to test the legs and kit. The legs held up. The kit felt compliant and not too restrictive. From there I made it to the base of Keene. I turned around and headed back up the mountain. I had a nice tailwind on the way back. I had stuff to think about, so that helped pass time. I made my way past the major landmarks while holding a descent tempo. I kept my momentum going over the summit at near max. From there, I let my HR go down slowly till I made it up Weston, and then shutting it down. Concentration was good. Minimal lapses and gremlins. Balance and form felt good. Gear worked perfect. The new shorts felt compliant in the chamois with the saddle. The fit around the waist was good. I wish it were just a hint larger, though. Nutrition was good. No hunger signs. I went through about 3/4 of the Gatorade and a bit of water. Ailments were minimal. The usual hand numbness while grinding out of the saddle. Other notes, there were some people at the Loop Monument while I was on my way down and on the way up. There were two moto-cyclists that past me on the way back down WTR. Gesturing in a friendly comedic way. I gestured back in laughter.
