Garmin didn't get the first 1.1 mile of the ride, for some reason it was set to pause not start! Glad I noticed it the whole ride could have been zero! It was so humid my glasses stayed wet making it hard to see the entire ride... I couldn't believe how warm it was too after being so cold on the last several rides. Between the wet air and road, the humidity and warmth at ride end I was completely soaked as if I was sprayed with a garden hose, we rode hard but not that hard, lol! I set another FTP during this ride it wasn't something I was looking to do but it came up so I went for it and Albert stayed with me for almost the entire push. Because my rear light was blinding him he could not sit on my wheel he was fall enough back not to get any help from a draft from me. Because of the speed I was traveling on this particular road it ended too soon, I was holding 257- 270 for most of it with spikes over 300, thinking it was long enough when I turned around to meet back up with Albert. I still got a 245 FTP, so it could have been even higher! I am so happy that my strength is finally coming back after all these years post the accident that almost took me out for the count... I realize that my wattage isn't as high as many on here but for it is a big improvement from the 160-180 FTP that I was pushing just a few month ago. Much kudos to Albert his comradary, willingness to push and determination on our rides I was able to spark that internal lion and it feels good, Thank you Albert!!! Not to just toot my own horn, Albert has been improving right along with me, he is a totally different rider and is so much stronger too! Back to the ride we did one of Albert's favorite routes! I thought we were on a time crunch, I kept the pace up so that he got home in time, to find out at our departure it wasn't for today, lol! Our ride speed average is very deceptive as most of the ride is done at a much faster pace, we will slow down every now and then to carry on friendly conversations until we realize we slowed down too much and back off we go. Last week we had so little miles out in, I felt like I put on a few pounds around the belly as I had to loosen the fanny pack I wear. Then again I carried an extra bottle just in case, I barely finished on bottle which is a no no, need to get back to drinking more. I am looking for a grand 2023, barring any mishaps or negative health issues it will be a dream year. So we both had an awesome ride this morning and look forward to more this week... 😎
