Eleven followed Lawrie out of Uxbridge round West Drayton and on through Sipson, Harmondsworth, and Longford to elevenses at Stanwell Moor Garden Centre, a welcome refuge halfway along Stanwell Moor Road.
After coffee we went on to Staines before heading off across Shortwood Common, complete with grazing cattle, towards Ashford. A short stretch of road and Lawrie led us into Fordbridge Park from which we exited onto Ashford Road. While travelling down Ashford Road Ray noticed his rear tyre had a puncture which turned out to be a rather large piece of flint. It was soon mended and we continued on to lunch at The Feathers. All too quickly lunch was done and our leader was eager to get us back on the road.
The route took us along the Thames, which was in full spate, and road through Staines bypassing the worst of the traffic. Once through Staines our route continued on through Wraysbury, Horton and Colnbrook to Thorney Park Golf Club for afternoon tea with two of our number continuing on to Uxbridge to catch a train.
Leaving Thorney Park we were led to Yiewsley on to Hillingdon with the group dispersing along the way.
A great day's cycling on a route well prepared by our leader.
