First ride this week, got sick after last Saturday's ride... it is an upper respiratory infection, lungs congested, nasal congestion with sore throat headaches, tiredness and blurred vision. It got worse with each day until Thursday, coughing and flem continued to get worse. Also Sunday thru Tuesday it was raining on and off, that didn't help. Well it was nice to get out to ride. It was much colder than my outdoor thermometer stated and colder than weather forecast too. Mr. Wind was howling 15mph with gusts up to 25mph! Which didn't help with the wind chill! I was slightly under dressed for the temp and windchill. The ride was going well until I tried to make a U turn at mid point of the ride, traffic was so heavy it took me almost a mile before I was able to make the turn. About 2 miles further I ran over something and got a flat tire. This didn't help with the conditions and my cold. I after about 15-20 min or so I got the tire fixed and was back on the road, now body was cold. I notice a rear brake rub after I got started, I didn't feel like stopping so I dealt with it for the next 15 miles. The rear derailleur issue on gears 4 - 6 worked great but gear 7 or 8 didn't. I think when I went to replace the 2 cassette spacers with the correct size, the 2 spacers got mixed in with the correct spacers. when I pull out these spacers I will be careful to only remove the gears one at a time. The ride felt good but not sure it did my cold any good... will do another ride tomorrow to see how I feel. Test ride was successful and installed bar tape and it made a huge difference, took out all the road vibrations and look great too. I also need to put in new power meter batteries, I checked the voltage before the ride and they read great but didn't have the juice and power meter died about 6 miles into the ride. Another adventure down and looking forward to the next!
