I was originally going to use the ride as a dual purpose, go to the bank and make a deposit, the bank is 22+ miles away depending on which way I go, regardless there are several stops and traffic lights. Think I was getting out around 3pm plenty of time... I get out to the main road and notice it is just before 4pm and I thought there is no way I could get there before they close so I decided to do a route I haven't done in years and wanted to see if it was a better route for Albert and I. After passing Burrs Mill Rd. I saw police lights ahead. I get near the 3 police cars one Black unmarked and 2 marked SUV all with lights flashing, as I get up the cars I see 2 fully dressed police officers with one street dressed person in the middle walking towards the front police car. I pass by them and get maybe 100 yards and I hear a gun shot, then another. I thought about turning around but thought I didn't want to become a casualty of whatever those shots were for. Maybe there was a deer that was hit on the side of the road and they mercy killed it. I thought better for me to stay on my ride and mind my own business... Well back to my ride, which was going great. I get to Big Hill Rd make the right turn and there was bumpy partppp} of road about 20' long then it became normal road not the smoothest but descent enough and since the road wasn't busy you could choose your path and ride the best section. The road became much better further down until you finally turn off the road and get on Ridge Rd. The total distance seemed to be about the same as taking Burrs Mill but better road surface. I started the ride out on the slower side as I normally do and the headwind wasn't helping. Once I was up to ride speed I never really slowed down as much as I wanted to and planned to, I just kept going. With my left knee aching and a sharp pearcing pain in my lower back, I just wanted to get the ride over with, lol. I finally get back into Browns Mills and had a little racing with cars on Juliustown Rd to my turn off onto Junction Rd. For a while I forgot about the pain and was having fun keeping up with the cars and even passing them. Once I turned off it was back to the grind but knowing I only had 2.5 miles to go mostly up 1% grade hill and into a slight headwind. It was over before you know it. All in all it was a great short ride, it may have been my fastest solo ride over 30 miles this year!? 😎
