Didn't really have a plan other than "start as close to the work as possible to maximize riding time" followed by "go up the W&OD trail and back on Custis". That was the extent of it. So then it seemed like, oh, yeah, let's ride the Q St cycle lanes to the east, then south on 4th to Capitol Hill and then back across the river in the usual place. It was at about mile 21 when the realization sunk in that a) not only was it now dark (tho i had strong light) b) it was maybe as much as 10 miles back to the car. Ooops. Maybe a tad more than advisable in January. Now it's REALLY dark and cooling off. Regardless, ride back to the car involved a coupla little climbs and the body arrived tired but still plenty functional. We'll see how the legs/contact points work tomorrow, when the high is in the 40s...
