I took a quick spin to the summit of Highline. This ride was to verify the bike fit and check get a feel for the body. Two things happened before today. One, I cut myself shaving. No biggy, it's healing just fine. The other, not so good thing, was my left heel. For what ever reason, as I was removing my pants, about to put my PJ's on, My left heel hit the toilet seat! It feels like a bruise now. I'm icing it as I type. Fortunately, the heel is the least used part of the feet when riding a bike. The ride was mostly to gauge how my legs feel, knees, back, muscles, and overall bike fit, as I changed the saddle height the other day. First impressions was encouraging. My left foot felt sore as I was going over bumps, but it was very mild. I'm hoping it will get better by Saturday. I put in a few short digs, just to see what my body was going to do, from head to toe. My body responded well. Some minor sorenesses here and there, but nothing to write home about. I like the new, raised saddle height. The gear is working well, no issues. I tightened the headset and stem bolts yesterday. I found out what the "clinging" noise was when I went for my ride on Wednesday. It was the shims just below the headset bolt. They were loose. I re-tightened the bolts, and adjusted the shims. They appear to be sitting more firm now. I washed the bike, everything looks good after inspection. I thew on some new tires the other day, with new inner tubes. No debris on the tires after inspecting them today. I'm almost done with my organizing of the stuff I need for ride day. Some things I need to do are, fill the water bottles (likely tomorrow), wash my clothes that I wore today and put them in my spare clothes bag. I need to make sure I put all of my electronics on charge and format the Gopro 128GB SD Card. Double check to make sure all my stuff is ready before tomorrow. Tomorrow, I will check in at 2pm. After getting back, I'll put the ride numbers on the bike and where ever else. I need to fill up the bottles and get the ice ready. Double check my gear for the last time. Put the GPS and camera on the bike, leave the power ribbon disconnected. Go through my check list and make sure everything looks good. I need to make a list of things to do on ride day. From the moment I get up, to the moment I depart. Other notes, they have started putting the ride markers on the ground. I saw 1 other cyclist, we were smiling, probably knowing that we were both going to be in for a good ride on Saturday.
