It's been a while since I've done this ride, so I was overdue. The weather is on the cool side, so I brought my jacket. It served me well as I was nice and comfy for the duration of the ride. The wind was from the North West. Ideal for this ride. The legs were a bit heavy and sore to start. Perhaps from the other day's core training. It was like that for most of the ride. I made it to the summit of OTR in average time. I wasn't in a hurry. The Banducci Wall had some traffic mitigation, otherwise the usual steady grind. More of the same making it to the summit of Banducci. Once there, I took a few moments to recover. I put my head cap on as it was starting to get cold with the headwind. Shortly after, got back on the road and headed down the mountain. The trek to SS was mostly steady pace. It felt quick. I made my way around the backside and pulled over to set the music on the mp3 speaker to stream from my smartphone. It worked like a charm. Always nice to listen to new music. The descent into town was nice. I stopped at the local park for a bio, but the restrooms were closed. I zipped through town. I think I was about 5 to 10 minutes off when I passed through the tunnel. I was doing moderate tempo through most of the flatlands. I found a porta-potty to conduct business and spared no time to get back on the road. I was about 5 to 10 minutes behind when when I reached Boss Hogs. So, I didn't give up much time. The last climb felt good. I was able to hold a good tempo most of the way up. I had a nice tailwind. I pulled over at the summit to swap camera batteries. I decided not to feed, but drink more Gatorade as I brought an extra bottle. I recovered on the way to Route 202. Route 202 had traffic from behind, but by the time they caught up, I was already making my left turn onto OTR. OTR was fun and games. I was able to put the power down after noticing a car from behind. I did the grind up Mariposa, made my way back to Weston and shut it down at the top. Concentration was good. Mostly in the zone. Some gremlins here and there. Nutrition was good. No hunger signs. I went through one and half bottles of Gatorade. Minimal water. No feeding today. Balance and form was good. Gear worked flawless. Ailments were minimal. Some left outer knee soreness that didn't escalate. Some quad fatigue from previous day's core training. Other notes... I noticed a piece of something that chipped off the bottom bracket as I was cleaning the bike yesterday. I called Action Sports and set them an email with photos. Pending a response. There were no other cyclists today!
