What a great day to ride! I was a bit reluctant in the morning, but the weather was too inviting to pass up. I had to take photos of the bike's bottom bracket without the hardware. So, dad and I did that in the morning before the ride. I was going to take a nap, but by the time we were finished and the bike assembled, I decided to just go. The legs felt a bit sore. Not sure why. Perhaps from the previous day's core training. After about 10 minutes, I was feeling better. I made a quick bio pitstop at a porta-potty just before OTR. I made it to the summit of OTR in good average time. The Banducci Wall had traffic mitigation. Otherwise, no redlining it while using my lowest gears. I made my way to the summit while keeping an eye on traffic. I took a few moments rest, let traffic by and then headed down the mountain. The trek to SS was mostly moderate tempo on the false flats. I made my way around the backside climb and then headed down the mountain and into town. I stopped at the local park, but the bathroom was closed. I hopped back on my bike and got back on the road. I made it to the tunnel in about 1:05 hours. I zipped through town and got back on the farmland roads. Mostly moderate tempo and getting out of the saddle to stretch and relieve pressure. I made it to Boss Hogs in about 1:30-ish hours. So, I gave up about 5 minutes from SS. The last climb went well. I had a tailwind and the legs felt ok. After reaching the summit, I pulled over to swap the camera battery. Shortly after, I got back on the road. The false flat was a recovery zone. Route 202 had minimal traffic mitigation. I was able to relax after reaching OTR. I did the push over Mariposa, the legs were feeling heavy. After reaching the top of Weston, I shut it down. Concentration was good. Minimal lapses and no gremlins to speak about. Nutrition was good. I went through one and a half Gatorade bottles and maybe a sip of water. Ailments were minimal. Balance and form felt good. Gear worked flawless. Other notes, there was one cyclist that looked to have had a mechanical. There was a car that stopped to assist him. Otherwise, I would have offered. There were some adventure hikers on their way up SS as I was descending.
