This morning dawned mostly sunny and dry with a moderate west wind…and we were heading east! NO HEADWIND! OMG! But don’t worry, the headwind is back tomorrow. Rivers PP is one of the nicest Provincial Parks I have visited, anywhere. Nice flat well-treed sites that accommodate anything from our tent to a motor home. Very reasonable rates and washrooms and showers that are the cleanest and most well equipped I have ever seen. If you are in the Brandon area and are looking for a campground be sure to check them out. We rolled out of the park and up the hill and rode a very short stretch of pavement to cross the Little Saskatchewan River and head south on a nice smooth gravel road. 3 miles down we turned east and took advantage of a rare boost from Mother Nature. Carnegie road had a good gravel coating but with two clear smooth paths to allow us to ride side by side. Carnegie finally deteriorated (improved?) into another machinery road that got just a bit wet before we had to head south to join another gravel road that would take us to the vicinity of the Brandon airport. We rode down the west edge of the Brandon Research Farm and took a bit of a circuitous route to get across the Assiniboine River, across the rail yards and around the inevitable construction to our Warmshowers host Judy’s house where we will spend tonight. Tomorrow we are off to Glenboro and Spruce Woods PP to check out some of the sights there.
