After careful consideration and discussion this morning we decided that given the fact that we could not verify that the Forest Service roads from Highway 53 across to Cook were in fact passable and given that the air mass in northern Minnesota is so unstable, we abandon the plan to ride that portion of the GNMBR and stick to the pavement until the weather improves. It was not easy to decide this but laying here in our tent in a rainstorm at Hoodoo Point campground just out of Tower MN, we are so very glad that we did. Most of the afternoon was spent putting on our rain gear and then taking it off a short time later as thunderstorm after thunderstorm passed over us. We are so glad that we are not 100 kms back in the bush right now. Well, tomorrow is another day, we will see what it brings.
