We rolled out of the Rainy River campground and headed north to pick up Matthew Kadey’s route again. The roads we encountered as we rode east were perfect, mostly class 2 gravel with a bit of class 1 and almost all of the roads we rode, even the tiny backroads had been treated with calcium chloride, or whatever is used for surface stabilization these days. The only downside was that the moderate north wind that was forecast today turned out to be a moderate east wind again. Yes, another day of headwinds! Other than the two stretches on busy highway 11 where no other option was available, all the roads today were spot on and excellent, perfect gravel riding. Good choice of route Matt. The forecast is for rain, sometimes heavy for the next 36 hours so we have availed ourselves of another Warmshowers host, this time in Ft Frances ON and are looking forward to some time under a roof out of the rain.
