Waking up to a light drizzle, I happily ate breakfast in bed, which I had bought last night, while waiting for it to end. I'm getting the hang of how to deal with this weather pattern!
There was one unusual place that I wanted to visit in Fort Bragg: the Larry Spring Museum of Common Sense Physics, which I heard about on the Atlas Obscura podcast (https://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/podcast-larry-spring-museum-of-common-sense-physics). Larry Spring was a TV repairman who dabbled in electronics, real estate, sculpture, and rock collecting. Notably, he developed and promoted an alternative theory of electromagnetics — something that establishment physicists would call a "crackpot" theory. Anyway, his workshop has been made into a small specialty museum, one with limited opening hours. I was intrigued by the quirkiness of the place — his commitment to his work makes it interesting, regardless of its scientific correctness. I was disappointed that I arrived in Fort Bragg about 28 hours later than the Saturday opening hours of this museum. I did, however, swing by there the night before and got the contact information of the curator, who kindly agreed to give me a private showing this morning! (It turns out that she is also a Vancouverite who spends part of the year here to operate this place.)
After the museum, I set off on CA1 down the coast. The road consists of gently rolling hills. However, each time a creek flows into the Pacific, there is a descent with switchbacks (which I take as fast as possible), a sharp right turn at the bottom (must feather the brakes to do it safely), and an arduous climb out (where I must quickly dump gears and start grinding my way up). The top of the climb reveals a new scene — the whole trip is like a slideshow where you work really hard to advance to the next slide.

Estimated Time shows a prediction of how long it would take you to ride a given route. This number is based on your recent riding history, and represents an estimate of moving time. Each time you upload a new ride, your Estimated Time profile will adjust to reflect your most recent riding. Only rides exceeding 10 miles (16 km) will affect these estimates.
