Century day! We started slightly earlier for today's distance. The roads seem much less crowded today. Stopped in Glidden for breakfast and coffee. Waffle bites for me. Steak and eggs for Theresa. Yum. 25 miles to Jefferson for our next stop. Roads are super fast today. We are successfully staying chill. Chill AND fast is so sweet. Got a strawberry lemonade. We ran into Rudy and Deanna. Great to see them. They are always so upbeat and cheerful. They also loved Theresa's tattoo. Woot! Lunch in Rippey. We had the ribeye sandwich. Oh ribeye, how we loved thee. We will meet again, I guarantee it. After filling our water, we set off for the Karass loop. The Karass loop is the extra miles to make a century. Half way through the loop, Wenzel's Farm hosted the riders with cold water and a free beer stick. Delicious! I will be looking to order them online. Thank you Wenzel's Farm! They also had a shady grass spot. Theresa was torn between napping and eating her meat stick. We finished the Karass loop and headed on to Luther. Luther is just off route. Live music, pie, and a cold soda made for a nice arrival. Cool breeze and a few minutes out of the saddle was a pleasant treat too. Final miles into to Ames were fast. We had a tailwind a good part of the way. Many riders were worn out, in the red, and doing weird things, so I am glad we were still well within our limits at the end. Our chill dropped to about 50% a couple of times, but we eased off the gas and went right back to full chill. Another great day, seeing Iowa, visiting with new friends, and living life well with my darling wife. Tonight we plan to go see Hairball in concert. It should be a blast!
