Haven't done this loop in awhile and feeling pretty good so let's try it. Also it might rain. Or maybe it's just super humid so it might make no difference rain or not. Well then. Got sprinkled on a coupla times and had some uncomfortably wet streets in Rockville, especially where Veirs Mill and Norbeck/First St cross but a mile or two north of that it was back to completely dry. Chose to ride on the wide but somewhat bumpy sidewalk along Rockville Pike from 24.7 to 26 (no way you ride in the street there) to avoid the ugliness of Gude and Crabbs Branch... Well both are ugly, best to spread out the ugly exposure... Had a flat about 2.5 miles in; with a 15 minute delay to put in a new rear tube. Found a piece of glass that pierced the tire juuuust right. Then went to fill up the new tube with the heretofore flawless CO2 inflator ... and it blew out its guts in my hand. No more grippy stuff for the stem. Fortunately a dude was nearby with a pump and offered it... But it was also a reminder these tires have a lot of miles on them... Time for new ones! And a new inflator. And maybe a pump as a backup... Rode the rest of the way with an eagle eye out for anything that looked tire-pokey and finished without incident. Body felt pretty good the whole time; it's a lot easier to do the climbs from Mile 15 onward in August than it is in April ....
