I'm getting to the last few rides before the Spooktacular event. So far, so good. The weather has warmed up a bit. I wore arm coolers, knee warmers and a headcap. The legs felt pretty good to start. I was using the Komoot navigation app for the first time. It works, but isn't perfect. It seems to have problems at turn-around points. The navigation says to turn around too soon. Nevertheless, it worked well with my music player. I have it paired to the speaker and I can hear the directions and music streaming off the smartphone. Now, I have to check the battery consumption. The smartphone showed 49% when I got back, but I'm not certain where it was when I left. Will have another test over the weekend. The ride went as planned. I wasn't paying too much attention to time. After reaching the summit of OTR, I stopped to remove my knee warmers and headcap. From there, I headed back down and to the mail lockers to stash the extra clothing. Then I headed to Keene. The wind was from the South East. I cruised the downhill and put in two digs over the risers. I stopped once for a quick bio and made my way to the base. After reaching the base, I headed back up the mountain, no stopping. I did check the Komoot app. It told me to turn around about a 1/4 mile from the base. It picked up after I did the u-turn. Fromthere, it was non-stop to the summit. It was mostly a game of patience, going into the headwind. The legs felt good. I was counting the landmarks as they went by. I felt better in the morale after reaching the second dip. I kept my momentum while cresting the summit. From there, I took a few moments rest and headed back to the lockers where I gathered my belongings and headed back home. I shut it down at the top of Weston. Concentration was good. A bit impatient, otherwise in the zone. Balance and form was good. Aliments, hand numbness while out of the saddle. Nutrition was good. I drank most of the sport drink and some water. Gear worked flawless. The mp3 speaker did what it was supposed to. It connected to my smartphone via bluetooth, played music and announced the Komoot navigation instructions. Other notes, I saw at least two cyclists today. Only one visitor at the Loop Monument as I was descending to Keene.
