The weather has stabilized a bit. It’s cold, winds from the South East. I wore arms, knees, thick base layer, head cap and some newspaper in the jersey. Turned out to be the perfect selection. I got out a bit later than anticipated, but not so much. I made it to the summit of the descent in good time. I cruised the downhill. I put two digs over the risers. The tailwind made for a rapid descent. I made it to the base in about 23 minutes. After reaching the base, I turned around without hesitation. The legs and body felt good. My patience was being tested. I followed the landmarks. I had some stuff to think about during the ride. I kept the tempo steady. My morale felt better after reaching the second dip. I was able to lift the pace a bit going over the top. I was keeping an eye on the wattage data. I was doing over 3 W/kg towards the end. This compares with Zwift's Watopia Mountain Route. I normally hold around the same wattage on that course. My right knee started to complain on the last mile of the ascent, so I was having to adjust my pedaling technique to mitigate the soreness.
It dissipated about minute after reaching the summit. After reaching the summit I recovered. I made my way back home. The headwind was pretty strong. I shut it down at the top of Weston. Concentration was good. My patience was the lesser of things. I was constantly coaching myself to stay focused. Balance and form was good. Ailments, some right hand numbness while out of the saddle and my right knee got sore towards the last mile on the climb. Nutrition was good. I had oatmeal for breakfast. That held me over. I drank most of my sport drink, no water. Gear worked flawless. I ended up replacing the rear tire as it has worn down to the casing. This delayed my departure by about 7 minutes or so. Other notes, no cyclists or visitors at the Loop Monument.
