As I planned, I decided to go to WS due to the wind conditions coming from the South East. But, first I went to the summit of Banducci. I didn't bother checking the time to the top of OTR, but likely in good average time. I had a partial tailwind on the way up. The Banducci Wall had some traffic mitigation, otherwise went quick. I recovered on the flats and then finished climbing to the summit. The legs felt pretty good. Traffic was manageable. After reaching the summit, I pulled over to catch my breath for a few moments. I assessed the wind conditions and the GoPro camera. The wind was strong and going West. No chance to go to SS on a last decision. I let some traffic go by and headed back down the mountain. Descending off the Banducci Wall was a bit dangerous, but I took it easy. I had my right foot clipped out for good measure. From there, it was the trip to WS. More like a slow march. The wind was strong the whole way out. I kept the tempo steady. No heroics. I stopped once to bio in the bushes and then made my way to the end of WS. The return trip was enjoyable in the sense that I had a generous tailwind to help. Before I knew it, I was already back to Tucker. I kept good tempo going over the Dragon Back climb. I could have flew on the ensuing downhill. I chose to play it safe. No point in taking chances. I made my way back to OTR and was able to relax a bit on the downhill. I pushed over Mariposa (with a slight tailwind) and made my way back home. I shut it down when I reached the top of Weston. Concentration was good, all things considered. The wind condition was not good for the morale. But, I was able to remind myself that I would be riding into a tailwind after the hard work getting there. There were hints of gremlins on Highline as is almost always the case. Nevertheless, I made it back in one piece. Nutrition was good. I drank most of my sport drink, no water for food. Balance and form was good. Ailments, minimal. Some mild hand soreness on the out of the saddle segments. Gear worked flawless. Other notes, no cyclists today, other than a family riding the bikes around the block.
