The weather is fantastic! In the low 50’s. Mild winds from the South East. I wore arms, knees, head cap and newspaper in the jersey. I decided to go to Keene. The left glute is still sore, but ever so slight. So today was somewhat of a test. I made it to the top of the descent in good time. I cruised the downhill. There was a slight tailwind but also a bit turbulent. I didn't bother checking the time when I reached the base. I removed the newspaper from my jersey and then headed back up the mountain. I kept the tempo steady and out of the saddle frequently. The landmarks helped pass time. When I reached the Loop Monument, I pulled over to take some photos and video of the passing train. From there, it was non-stop climbing. I was doing no less than moderate tempo. I put in a good dig in the last two minutes. Doing high tempo to the summit. I posted a sub 1:05 hour ride to the summit of WTR. Very good! After making it to the summit, I took a few moments to recover. My HR was at 165 BPM. The highest in a while. I made my way back home and shut it down at the top of Weston. Concentration was good. Few lapses, the morale felt good and minimal gremlins. Balance and form was good. The Specialized saddle feels more compliant thus far. Ailments, some right hand numbness. My right knee was complaining after about 20 minutes in the climb. I shifted my weight forward and that seemed to help. Will likely need to adjust the right cleat fore / aft. Gear worked flawless. Nutrition was good. No hunger signs. I went through most of my sport drink. Other notes, there were some people at the Loop Monument as I was descending and on my way back up the mountain. No cyclists today.
