We had breakfast at the same restaurant we had dinner the night before, and then we started out in quite windy weather headed for the ferry from Spodsbjerg on Langeland across to Tars on the larger Island of Lolland, ad then on to the town of Maribo. it was only about 7 miles for the ferry but the wind was out of the southeast and so at times we had quite a headwind. Sue got ahead and got the ferry to wait for the rest of us dawdling along, but we didn't know it and soon it just left as we were riding up to it. That meant an hour or so to wait for the next one. Not a problem as Sue and I went to a store and bought a few things for lunch. In Tars we headed southeast into a strong headwind toward the town of Nakskov and it soon began to rain and we suited up in full rain gear. It took awhile but we got to town and found a nice (and warm and dry) restaurant for lunch before continuing east. At Halstead, Mike wanted to just ride straight across route 9 (a busy road but with a bike path along the side of it. But I persuaded all to take a longer route but n very quiet roads with virtually no cars. The rain continued all afternoon and the wind was tough whenever we headed southeast which was the case for the final 10 miles. Not a particularly pleasent day for riding but we made it. That night we enjoyed eating together in one of our rooms using the food we had purchased for a picnic lunch, but did not eat given the rain. Mike and I had found an open store where we were able to buy a couple of bottles of wine for dinner. The hotel was big and modern and quite nice with a lot of folks at a conference. We didn't see much of Maribo, supposedly quite a nice town, as we planned to head out the next morning after breakfast.n
