First time doing to Banks to Vernonia Trail in awhile. Start from the Banks Trailhead. Not too full for a sunny Wednesday. Rode the path to the Crown-Zimmerman trail junction (CZ Trail), then turned onto the CZ Trail to ride around the little lake. Returned the same way. The BTV path has gotten worse over the past few years. There is an especially bad section from the Manning Trailhead to the Buxton Trestle. The worst part is from the 5.8 km mark to the 8.0 km mark. The bridge approaches just before the trestle are terrible. Need to exercise extreme caution, especially on the downhill return. A logging operation is noted at the Hill Top junction. There is flagging on the side of the path. Beware of raised tree-root areas from Buxton to Vernonia. Most are chalk-marked, but can be hard to see in the shade. All in all, this is not a fun ride. Would rather ride Highway 47.
