This was a route taken from RideWithGPS. However, the creator made a couple confusing turns at the beginning. Hence the 6-mile warm-up ride before the main ride. Could not figure out how to get on the original route. Went back to the beginning and looked closer at the map, then started a new ride. The ride starts in Dundee. There is a nice, little park across the street from a couple wine-tasting establishments. Ample parking in the wine-tasting lot and there were not any no-parking signs. Head north on Highway 99W for about a mile then go right on Dayton Avenue. Continue through Newberg on Highway 240. The route turns right onto Old Yamhill Rd, getting off the busy highway. Eventually the route hits North Valley Rd and continues west then northwest to Laughlin Rd. That road is a nice, quiet secondary road, with a slight incline for the first mile or so. Then it's a slight downhill to Highway 240. The first stop is Yamhill (mile 19.2), at the middle school. Continue west on Main St, which becomes Moores Valley Rd. Stay straight onto Westside Rd at the Moores Valley Rd junction. Endured a south headwind on this section. Take NW Meadow Lake Rd east into Carlton. There is another winery, Ken Wright Cellars, that makes a good stop. The next few miles heads south to Highway 99W just outside Lafayette. Go right on Bridge St, which leads north out of town and becomes Abbey Rd. This is another nice, pleasant section. The route gets back to Highway 240 at mile 37.2. Ride east on 240 to the Worden Hill junction. Veer right onto Worden Hill. This is a monster 1.2 mile climb, most of it at 8-12% grade. The route creator is pretty evil to put this brutal climb near the end. There is a nice 1.2 mile descent on a pretty nice, smooth surface. Then, a short, steep hill followed by another 1 mile descent into Dundee. The route creator added a couple extra turns at the end to make the ride 45 miles. Opted to skip that and return to the park for 44.25 miles.
