I set in my mind to do a double at minimum. Contingent on how I felt and provisions. In such, I decided to park and ride. I calculated that I would need 2 bottles to get out to Keene n Back, and 3 more bottles to go to WS and elsewhere. When I got out to the parking lot, I got my stuff ready. I forgot my forehead pad for my helmet, but fortunately, I had an extra in the duffle bag. When I got ready and mounted, I put my left foot into the pedal, but I didn't realize I was in the biggest gear. I ended up falling over to the left. I put both hands down on my left side to break the fall. Fortunately, I got away with just a few scratches and a small abrasion on the end of the handlebar. So, I headed out to Keene, somewhat sluggish to start. I was eager to get to the base and commence the climb. I had to get there first. I reached the top of the descent in average time. Headed downhill, keeping my thoughts positive and reached the bottom. I headed back. My legs felt good. There happened to be a guy on his way back as I was about to reach the base. I calculated that he was about 2 minutes ahead. I bridged up to him towards the last mile of the climb. It helped to have a carrot. Somewhat change the approach of the climb. I was keeping him in my reach and doing my routine to get to the summit while saving matches for later. Thus, the reason I didn't charge up the climb. From there, I took a minute break at the summit and headed back to the car. I swapped out bottles and headed out to WS. OTR went fast. I was looking forward to the Highline outbound. It was a welcome reprieve, and I was able to practice balance and form. On the return, I decided that I was definitely going to head out to the Alpine Forest. Keeping that in mind, I saved a few matches. I started modest, letting my legs to get ready for the headwind. The miles went quickly. I had my head down alot, and when I looked up, I could see progress. I think that's what got me through that stretch of road. When I reached the Banducci climb, it was steady tempo, keeping an eye on my legs for cramping. I think they showed a hint, so I backed off a bit. The AF continues to be all about the speed bumps. It doesn't take much to get to the first one. But it's all uphill. So, I just count them off. The last kicker through Lemans was tacking. In order to mitigate over exertion. Before I knew it, I made the summit, took a few breaths, headed downhill to Banducci. I turned left and reached the summit of Banducci. If I had more provisions, I would be tempted to head out to CV. Nevertheless, I turned around and headed back. Mostly fun and games and a welcome reprieve. Concentration was spot on. Some lapses, no biggies. Balance and form felt good. Ailments consisted of right hand numbness, some lower back soreness, a hint of cramping, my feet were a bit sore, and some heat exhaustion. Gear is working well, but the Gopro failed to record beyond the first set of batteries. I installed a power bank on this ride, but apparently it didn't work. Other notes, I saw 3 cyclists today, on Keene and Highline.
