Today was somewhat of an improve ride. I knew I wanted to go to Keene n Back and the Alpine Forest, but I wasn't sure where to, thereafter. I ended up adding the CV loop. I got my new GoPro camera and it worked well with my battery bank. I'm still waiting on the compact crankset to arrive. The weather was warm, but comfortable. I got off to a good start, the legs felt reasonably fresh. I made it to the summit in a good average time. So, today was a test of the legs, mostly the right one, is is has been exhibiting signs of cramping. I made my way down Keene in good time. Turned around (after checking the camera) and headed back. My legs continued to feel fresh, but the heat was starting to bear down just a bit. I kept my mind on landmarks, keeping my tempo steady. I had some hints of cramping, so I adjusted my tempo accordingly. The miles ticked over quick. I took a couple minutes rest at the summit, called the folks to meet me at the mailbox to exchange bottles. After swapping out the bottles, I got a bag of ice, iced the calf and put the remainder in my pocket. Shortly after, I headed out. OTR felt better, given that I was sufficiently warmed up. I headed up Banducci. In my 32T towards the top of the wall. Then to the Alpine forest. I'm getting used to that place, as it feels safer and the gradient is somewhat forgiving, yet challenging. I weaved my way up the last kicker and then descended to the summit of Banducci. I took a few moments rest there. I took inventory on my provisions. I had enough to head down to CV. I decided to bypass SS and just head back via CVR. The flat lands went fast, mostly honing in on form and taking note of my calf soreness. It complained in a mild manner here and there, so I adjusted my tempo as needed. The last climb felt good. No heroics, I slowed down in some places and a bit more in others. Once over the summit, I checked my phone (turns out that it called home by accident). Then headed home. Concentration felt good, mostly in the zone. Balance and form felt good. I think it's improving. Ailments consisted of on and off right calf soreness that I was able to mitigate with icing, stretching and adjusting tempo. Gear is working great! The new camera worked flawless with my power bank. Other notes, I saw 1 cyclist today.
