A ride on the NH Ice Cream Trail to Tarry Ho Campground / 302 Grill, Twin Mountain, NH. Ride begins and ends at the Information Kiosk on School Street in Twin Mountain, NH. Your first encounter with The Cog is at the Kiosk. Ride out of town on Rt 302 headed East towards Fabyan and Bretton Woods. Rt 302 has great, wide, clear shoulders. It follows the Ammonoosuc River. Zealand Road leads to Zealand Hut by the AMC, but it's a hike of some Miles. In Fabyan there is a sporting goods place that might help with bikes, and an Irving that might help with otter matters. Wander the ski area. Then it's on to the Mount Washington Hotel, at the Omni Mt. Washington Resort. The Red Queen didn't seem to be about, just the usual white and black. Rumor has it there will be an International Bitcoin Conference in town to carry on the tradition of money matters being discussed at the Hotel. Had I thought of it, I could have started the ride here, and charged my car while out and about. Base Road! When you get to the Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail-head, you're just about there. The Cog. National Historic Mechanical and Civil Engineering Landmark. Down. Stop by the deep, cold pool after reading the Safety Notice. Yet another Old Cog. Had I known it was that far, maybe I'd have taken the shuttle up. Who are the Crawfords? Is Fabyan the name of the Restaurant or the name of the Place? or Both? Away, back Westward on Rt 302, with a side trip down Lower Falls Road (UNPAVED) to see Lower Ammonoosuc Falls. Quite nice and cool along the river. Back to Twin Mountain, and the 302 Grillwithoutane across from the Tarry Ho Campground, for ice cream! Hop back to the info kiosk on school road.
