The weather continues to let up a bit. Somewhat warm at the start, and cooler towards the end. I decided to do a double with a quick detour. I could tell my body was responding better as I made it to the summit of OTR in better than average time. I practiced my form on the way out to SS. Also, further acquainting myself with the new GoPro camera. Soon enough, I made it to WS, and turned around. At this point I had a perfect headwind. I put it in an easy gear and just put it in cruise control. Some places were less than 12MPH and probably not much more than 18MPH. This leg went fast. Bancucci wall went fast. I felt better, but also with less climbing in the legs than the previous ride. I was looking forward to the Alpine Forest as it has less traffic and feels safer. I think it's the right amount of climbing, yet forgiving in the right places. When I reached the summit of Banducci, I took a few moments rest, stretched, hydrated, and then headed down. Fun and games as usual. I'm getting better with the tuck, going around bends. As I was making my way to SS, I noticed that the wind was picking up a bit. Perhaps it was more of a headwind than previous rides in this direction. I took it easy on the rear entrance to SS. I put in a modest push as there was traffic behind. The downhill was a treat, reaching close to 40 MPH. I then made my way to the local mart, got some water (they have a dispenser). The water is free as long as you purchase something. I ended up purchasing a bottle of Gatorade. After that, I filled my bottles, got ready and headed back. The return on Banducci went fast, with the tailwind. The northbound legs going through the farmlands was slow, as there was a crosswind most of the way. I then reached the last climb up CVR. I kept the tempo steady, even dropping to easy tempo a few times to let my legs recover. There was a nice gust of wind as I was cresting the summit, so it felt like I was putting in a good dig. From there, I recovered a bit and then the fun trip back. Concentration was good today, lapses next to none. Balance and form felt good with room for improvement. Ailments consisted of right hand numbness. When I was around half way up the AF, I had a pinching sensation on my right calf. I've never felt this pain before, or I just don't remember. I ended up riding through it, but with care. I had some quad soreness with general fatigue. Gear is working well. The GoPro refused to turn on when I started the ride. I ended up re-seating the battery and that did the trick. Hopefully, I won't have to do this many times. I also noticed that the camera has a tiny gash on the side. Likely due to rubbing against the housing. More investigating on that later. Other notes, I saw 1 other cyclist today.
