N.B. No GPS file of this ride this is just a dummy place holder for the following ride story.
I am joined by Cliff J, Dave T, Iain M, John Mac, John W, and Steve C. We follow a marked cycle route to Yiewsley, and turn right into Swan Road. Passing Thorney and Richings Park, we cross Upton Court onto the Jubilee River. By this time I'm getting complaints from some about the need for toilets and refreshments, along with exaggerated claims of excessive mileage. Dorney Court soon looms and we meet the medium ride led by Tony C. Our presence prompts their early departure. We don't stay too long ourselves as the best cakes seemed to have vanished for some reason.
Resuming our journey along the Jubilee River, we meander our way northward through Maidenhead to our lunch stop at The Kings Arms, Cookham. Lunch is served very quickly and the portions are reasonably sized.
After lunch, we head for Cores End and Wooburn, where we climb Wash Hill to Hedsor. Through Beaconsfield and Seer Green, Cliff and John Mac, leave us near Chalfont St Peter. The attrition rate picks up as we approach Gerrards Cross. By the time we reach Jungs Cafe, it's just Iain, Dave and myself.
The phone rings. It's the Kings Arms, asking when my group would be arriving. I explain that not only did we arrive, but we left several hours ago. I did tell them at the time which group we were, and under whose name we were booked, but the message never got through.
After refreshments, we join the A40 near Tatling End, taking the scenic route through Denham Village and the golf course and back to Uxbridge. Good food, weather and company.
Regards
The Bolt
