Got out at noon today. The weather was warm and a bit humid, the winds from the north. My legs were a bit heavy in the first couple of miles. By the time I reached OTR, I was warmed up. I did modest tempo until I reached the banducci wall. I started conservative and progressed to an elevated tempo. I was digging by the time I reached the top of the wall. The remainder of the ascent was done in good tempo. I reached the summit in good time. Today I was concerned about leg cramping and was constantly stretching. When I reached the base of the climb and through the farm lands, I was doing good tempo, but well within myself. I did a bit of a dig over the top of SS. I was exhausted at this point. To my relief, no cramps at this point. I was experiencing a bit of hand numbness, and I tried making a fist and then relaxing it. Just as the previous rides. This seems to be the best remedy. The return trip was a treat, being that I had a tailwind. I reached boss hogs in around 1:20ish. Good time considering the conditions. I was fatigued by the time I reached the final ascent, mostly from the heat and humidity. I had enough provisions, so no problems with hydration. I stayed within myself and pushed when I felt my legs responding. The remainder of the ride was steady tempo and getting out of the saddle for the rolling terrain. My concentration today was good. I was able to focus on what I wanted to accomplish. Balance was good as well, I paid a lot of attention on that. I'm going to stick with my strength training technique. More specifically, sit-ups. Just trying to get that symmetrical feeling. The bike is working well. some clicks here an there, nothing to be concerned about. I'm likely going to purchase some components, tires, chain, cassette, etc. some time in the next week. Other notes, the SS bridge didn't show any signs of road-kill. Namely cats or kittens. Thank goodness!
