A short dip in the sea yesterday evening. How good it feels to have salt water ebbing & flowing gently around one's tired body. Another straightforward day's cycling - nearly all of it along the hard shoulder of the SS7 motorway. I assume this is allowed* - a couple of police cars passed me and didn't stop me. But big articulated trucks - of which there were many - often gave me a loud blast of horn as they thundered past less than a metre away. *I'm not sure it should be. The hard shoulder is never more than 1½m wide and frequently tails off into nothing. So one is cycling along as close to the crash barrier as possible without actually brushing it while cars & big lorries speed past. What could possibly go wrong?
