On a fine autumn 14 loiterers left Uxbridge and headed off up Chandlers Hill to the Pinewood gate Black Park. Once in the park we found barriers and a ma with a radio barring our way. Convincing him that we were not about to interfere with the filming taking place in the park we continued on our way on a very quiet track. Exiting the park by the car park we continued on to elevenses at Burnham Beeches via Stoke Poges. Here we were joined by Angela and after refreshments Alan and Phil left us.
Thirteen of us continued on towards Burnham then through Hitcham and Taplow before dropping down to the Bath Road. Once over Maidenhead Bridge we left the main road and passing Guards Club Park we found ourselves at The Guardsman’s Inn but it wasn’t. The pub has changed hands and is now The Grenfell Arms. They did however have food and beer. Brian left us here the to complete the route early while we had lunch.
After lunch we headed to Bray via Green Lane and The Causeway, both pleasantly traffic free. In Bray we as we headed towards Old Mill Lane I missed a turning and ended up outside The Waterside Inn. A quick look suggested that this wound not make a suitable Loiterers stop - no obvious bike parking!
Back on track we headed off along Old Mill Lane to cross the Thames downstream fro Monkey Island and so onto the path around Dorney Lake. On leaving the park we travelled downstream largley on the towpath to Eton the over the bridge into Windsor and tea at the Garden Cafe by the coach station.
After tea we returned home through Eton College sports fields, Upton and Ditton Parks, Langley, though Trenches Farm, and Iver with the group dispersing en route.
