Eight left Uxbridge and made our way through Iver to Iver Golf Club for elevenses. It was nice sitting in the sun chatting but ‘The Ride’ beckoned. The Jenkins Clan (Jane, John, and Clive) and Melissa headed off home while Liliane, Dave P. Guy, and myself continued on.
We headed through Trenches Farm Estate and Langley Marish to cross the A4 Bath Road. Safely across the main road we went on to cycle through Upton Court Park and crossing Sough Road joined the Jubilee River Path.
After a pleasant 21/2 miles cycling along the river we crossed into Cippenham and travelled through recently built estates along quiet roads and cycle paths to arrive at The Kings head PH. The village pond is a pleasant spot inhabiter by numerous ducks and makes for a pleasant spot to eat your sandwiches while others can eat in the Kings Head in view of the pond.
After lunch we made our way by path and road to Chalvey and while passing the Ice Rink we stopped to investigate a puncture which eluded discovery. Bike reassembled we set off north through Salt Hill Park and Godolpin Park to join the Frank Sutton Way, a path which we followed to Villers Road. The route took us on past Stoke Poges Church up Penny Farthing Lane and on to Black Park. Dave and Liliane headed off to Denham Church while Guy and myself walked around the bottom of the lake to investigate his deflating front tyre over a cup of tea.
Tea drunk and tyre hard we left Black Park through Pinewood to Uxbridge via Chandler’s Hill to round off a pleasant day’s cycling.
